Harper & The MIdwest Kind BB's Jazz Blues and Soups November 22, 2011Harper and the Midwest Kind is where you find a collision of Australia, Michigan and the Blues, all wrapped in one show. You get Harper, a down-under Blues artist who will bring his didgeridoo, and his band from Michigan where he currently is based out of. Imagine that, a guy that probably ate Vegemite sandwiches as opposed to pork steak, doing the Blues? What is with that? What is with that is the Blues is far beyond International these days. I’d venture that if our radio signals have been heard beyond our solar system, aliens dig it too! (Voyager 1 & 2 Deep Space Probes feature music from Blind Willie Johnson & Chuck Berry on the “Voyager Golden Record“)

In any case, this is a pre-Holiday show on a Tuesday and those are the shows we really need to support to keep music diverse in the St. Louis area! In this case, you won’t have to lower your standards because you think weekday music is lame. As I have said  before, a lot of excellent bands pass through on weekdays and these “in-transit” shows are typically extra special. The artists tend to be rested and ready to rock! By the way, Harper is an International harmonica star. Few can rock the Blues on both a didgeridoo and harmonica like Harper can. Actually, I bet he is the only one so qualified!
Wud…
What, a didgeridoo rocking the Blues, Michigan, I mean Australio-Michiganous style?!
